Check out Ava's awesome reading nook!
When I was 80% done designing the house, she threw a wrench in my plans by requesting a window seat...couldn't argue...I always wanted one too. So I made adjustments and made this fit the space. This is not your traditional window seat, since the window is off to the side, but it works perfectly in her room.
It's the perfect spot to cozy up with a good book.
Plus, it's super practical and fun. You can even stash away all your toys in the huge baskets underneath. The bench and cushion were custom-made by my parents.
I personally hung the wall shelves and created the window treatment. Easy DIY wall shelf with hooks for hanging a curtain. How cool is that?

It brings me great joy to see Ava taking personal responsibility and finding satisfaction in her contribution. I guided her through the interior painting, taking care of the corners and touch-ups myself.
