A Wisconsin staple, this Old Fashioned Cocktail recipe is a classic you must try. Goes perfect with your Friday fish — or any night in between.
There are A LOT of different ways to make an old fashioned and A LOT of different kinds. My favorite is Southern Comfort Old Fashioned Sweet, Muddled. Muddled just means that instead of using a boughten old fashioned mix, you mash up the oranges and cherries to make the juice fresh...way better!
Cut up your orange and put into a separate jar or glass.
Add a couple cherries, and some of the cherry juice if you want a little extra.
Add about 5 splashes of bitters, or to your liking.
Add about 1.5-2 oz. Southern Comfort, or to your liking.
Use a muddler (if you have one, mine was currently in the camper, haha), or any wooden spoon or whatever you can dig out of your utensil drawer and mash the orange, cherry, alcohol mixture.
In your drinking glass, fill with ice. Then pour the muddled alcohol mixture over the ice. Top off with sweet soda. Stir and enjoy!
Old Fashions can be made with a variety of alcohol choices: whiskey, brandy or Southern Comfort. You can also use your choice of sweet or sour soda. Many garnishes are also offered at supper clubs, commonly cherries, olives or mushrooms.
