DIY Leather Strap & Copper Pipe Curtain Rod

Updated: Feb 8

Easy DIY that was not my original intention...

I have come across these leather strap curtain rod holders on Pinterest, but typically they are paired with a wooden dowel as the rod. However, when I visited Home Depot in search of a 5-foot wooden dowel, I was disappointed to find that they only had 4-foot ones available. As my daughter Ava and I continued exploring the store, I started looking for an alternative idea and stumbled upon copper pipes. Suddenly, it occurred to me that using copper would make a bold statement, especially since I already have other copper elements in my home. The only drawback is that it was not as inexpensive as I had hoped, but it ended up being about the same cost as purchasing a traditional curtain rod. Plus, installation was incredibly simple.

Obviously, you have to do your measuring, figure out curtain and rod size, etc. That's the hard part.

I used about 7" of 1-inch leather strap, folded in half, and used a large nail to secure into the wall. Then I used these copper upholstery nails I had to cover the nails and add to the glam.

I bought the copper caps to complete the rod so it wouldn't be open on the end to complete the look, they were only $1 extra so worth it for a more finished look.

I love the linen curtains I bought from Amazon, they are perfect for the Modern Organic design style I have throughout my home.
