"Better Than Cherry Pie" Bar Recipe

Updated: Feb 8

What?! ...there's something better than cherry pie? Believe it or not, yes! These Cherry Pie Bars are DELICIOUS!! I'm not a huge dessert eater, but my daughter and I ate this pan of bars up faster than any other dessert we've ever had in our house...with just the 2 of us that is, lol.

I think part of what makes this "better" than pie is that the dough is easier to make than pie crust. AND of course the glaze drizzle give is that extra sweetness that you just can't resist!

I found this Cherry Pie Bar recipe through Pinterest here, so no point in my repeating it. She did a great job. Our only substitution was using homemade canned cherries that we hand-picked from Door County. Probably why it tasted SOOOOO good!

In July, my family went to Door County for a girls day trip. My sister, Jenny, very much insisted (LOL) that we hand pick cherries as part of our adventure. None of us had done it before, and it was fun and worth it.

My sister is a "master canner" this year and she gets all the credit for canning the cherries and sharing with the family.

I didn't look at the picture of the end result of the bars that closely on the original recipe to see that the "spoonfuls" of dough leftover for the top were my "crumbled" on her picture, but ours still tasted really good even though it looks different. I thought I was being quite clever by using my cookie scoop to put down half "dumpling spoonfuls" on top...and it worked really good actually. We use our cookie scoop all the time in the kitchen — highly recommend!

Of course, my raw cookie dough eater was there to help and make these with me — the official taste tester!

We also love our KitchenAid Beater Paddle with Flexible Silicone Edges Bowl Scraper and use it almost everytime we use our mixer.

The standard KitchenAid Beater works great too!
